Advancing Communication Capacity of LAG Members

On July 22-26, a training module was conducted for potential members of the local action group (LAG) Mestia in order to enhance their communication skills through social media.

Since LAG members actively communicate with various groups, including local government officials, farmers, CSOs, youth groups, business owners and other stakeholders, equipping them with proper communication tools is key to their success.

The training course enabled members of the LAG Mestia to better utilize social media as an important platform on which to communicate and, as a result, qualified them to create and administer their own Facebook page that will significantly raise awareness about and understanding of the LAG among the population.

“Good public relations allows our potential LAG members to increase the popularity of the LAG and to spread information about events happening in each community. In my view, the trainings are key to increasing trust in LAG members among people. Moreover, the trainings helped LAG members to become more confident and to learn how to promote and advertise the LAG’s activities effectively,” said Elene Ganaia, LAG Coordinator at PMC Research.

The workshops were conducted as part of the project “Support to the Development of Livelihoods in Disadvantaged Rural Regions of Georgia – Mestia/Samegrelo - Upper Svaneti Region,” which is funded by the European Union with co-funding from the Austrian Development Cooperation, and is being implemented by Care Austria (CARE) in collaboration with PMC Research.
