Business Climate Index in Georgia Being Established by the Georgian Business Association and PMC Research

Together with the Business Association Georgia (BAG), we have started working on the development of the BAG Index, which is focused on evaluating the business climate in Georgia.

The quarterly BAG Index and Employment Barometer, as well as the biannual publication of the BAG Investment Survey, aims to assess the business climate in Georgia periodically, as well as to evaluate future expectations of businesses and their planned responses to the changing environment.

“When we started thinking about developing the BAG index, we thought that learning from the experience of ifo Institute’s, which has been preparing this kind of index for many years in Germany, would be vital. The BAG Index measures sectoral levels, namely construction, trade, manufacturing, and service. One of the main components of the BAG index is ascertaining how association members assess the changing business environment,” said Giorgi Khishtovani, Director at PMC Research, adding that “the index will combine the largest Georgian companies and their assessment will be critically important in identifying the major challenges facing the Georgian economy.”
