EU-Supported Khulo Local Action Group Partake in Kazbegi Study Visit to Enhance Guesthouse Management Knowledge

During November 9-10, the EU-supported Khulo Local Action Group (LAG) organized a study visit to Kazbegi, in cooperation with the Kazbegi LAG to share experiences in the field of guesthouse management.

Thirteen guesthouse operators participated in the workshops, which were led by guesthouse owner Ketevan Sujashvili as part of the project “Promotion of Service Quality Development in the Guesthouses in Khulo Municipality.”

“Vast experience has been accumulated in the field of guesthouse management in Kazbegi municipality; therefore we have shared practical examples with other service providers for them to learn from. Most important is the cooperation between LAGs, because we then have possibilities to plan many more joint activities in the future,” said Director of Kazbegi LAG, Shorena Sujashvili

The main topics discussed within this project were: agritourism and its advantages; pricing and seasonal discounts; practical tools for guesthouse management; how to register in different tourism websites; provision of additional services; how to introduce local culture and history; catering; and guesthouse room cleaning methods.

“ The study visit was very interesting for me; I learned from many practical examples and I return home with many ideas which I will introduce in my guesthouse,” stated the owner of guesthouse “Skhalta,” Izolda Surmanidze.

PMC Research Center, within a European Commission project, is working together with Caritas Czech Republic and the Croatian Rural Development Network on the project to promote rural development and diversification in Khulo municipality.
